Halloween is one of my favorite seasons to celebrate! With the incoming colors of fall, fall leaves to play in, and the smell of crisp, fall air, what’s not to love about Halloween in Salem, Oregon?
Autumn is a fun time with brilliant fall colors as a great backdrop for taking family photos, getting married, or taking your Halloween photos! In the past, I’ve created fantastic photo sessions with my clients using a wide array of colorful smoke bombs, backdrops, and props - who doesn’t love photography props? Cyborg Love Story
“I am the beginning. The end. The one who is many. I am the Borg.” When you’re half-human, half-robot, you have a coolness factor that’s second to none! So put your parts and pieces in place, and picture your Cyborg Halloween with your Cyborg SO standing by your side. Isn’t that romantic? Make it so!
Skeleton
The classic skeleton is always a great costume with the contrast of black and white. We can play around with your photo session and backdrop to create a stunning look that your friends envy.
(And, if you want to throw in a twist, a skeleton elopement might shake up your bones)
Corpse Bride
Many women love preparing for their wedding; however, are you ready to experience being a corpse bride? I recently completed a photoshoot with my client dressing up as a corpse bride, and we were dying from the fun we had!
Witch Photoshoot
This themed Halloween photoshoot is so much fun with smoke bombs and props! So get crazy with smoke bombs, witch’s pots, and, of course, broomsticks. There’s no end to the creative ways you can get your Halloween photo session by choosing the witch theme. And maybe for your session, we could throw in a steaming cauldron!

New Halloween Themed Photo Shoot Ideas
Recently, my clients have wanted to step out a bit further into exploring their creative side with new themes that have taken off and become very popular. The first is the Steampunk Couple.
Steampunk is a one-of-a-kind genre that blends the aesthetic and technology of the 19th century with elements of science fiction. The literary and audiovisual works generally occur in an alternate reality where technological progress is based not on electricity but on the steam engine. As Douglas Fetherling said, “Steampunk is a genre that imagines how different the past might have been had the future come earlier.”
Pirate photoshoots, recreating the Titanic scene, or having your photo taken on a ship with a mast have become popular photography themes recently. Get nautical with props and fun backgrounds to give the impression that you’re sailing on a ship.
Skeleton Couple on a Skeleton Horse is one of the most stunning visuals you can create at Katie Carodine Photography. Painting yourself and a horse as matching skeletons is as visually appealing as it is fun!
Ballerina Fairies are another magical photoshoot you can create with KC Photography. Dress up as a fairy and dawn your ballerina-style tutu, along with colorful smoke bombs and lots of glitter, to create your magical themed moment in time.
Mermaid Couple on the Beach is perfect for beach lovers who can’t get enough fun in the sun. First, dress up as a magical Mermaid Couple by dawning your fins and adding fun props such as nets, starfish in your hair, and conch shells. Then, pose on the rocks with the ocean splashing up in the background for a romantic backdrop to your photoshoot. In addition to Mermaid Couples, have your Mermaid Themed Session with your sisters, girlfriends, or daughters! You can also combine the Pirate and Mermaid Couple theme at a unique watery location on the Pacific Coast.
