Creative Photography Session Posing Tips

When you and your group are in a creative photo session, there are some essential photography photo session tips that you'll want to know when you're getting ready to shoot. Read on to find out what to wear when you're getting ready for your creative photoshoot!

Your Creative Photoshoot Womens' Poses

Ladies: Got hips? Use them to your advantage by accentuating your gorgeous curves! Give your hips a nice curve by pushing out one hip instead of standing straight up and down. Play around posting in the mirror the night before your shoot to see which poses and side you like the best!

Photo sessions don't have to all be still poses! Movement in photos can be your friend. Some of the best natural poses come when movement is involved in a pose. Unlike a staged photo, photos using movement can look more natural and capture your fun or wild side!

Use your hands to gently touch different points on your body, such as your face, the top of your head, and your opposite shoulder. You can also place your hand on your hip for a sassy look!

Your Creative Photoshoot Mens' Poses

Men, while accentuating your body by pushing out a hip is probably not the best option for your pictures, the angle of your pose for men in a photoshoot is just as crucial for men.

Leaning against a wall, tree, or car works well for men. Leaning back, forward, or to the side is a great casual pose for men. Make sure that you have your shoulders pushed back so as not to look hunched when you're leaning. Think tall thoughts, lengthen your neck, and don't stand straight onward to the camera. Angling your body can give a better look for your photo session.

Get Creative with Your Photosession Poses

Posing does not have to stay traditional. If you want to up your game with posing, the best advice I can give is to go check yourself out in a mirror (yes, I did just tell you to do that) - especially if you want you're posing to be creative. Look at your angles, and experiment with where you place your arms and hands. There is no one correct answer to posing. However, the more open you are to getting out of your comfort zone, the more creative your posing will become.

Do you always need to stick with a smile or dear in the headlights facial expression? Absolutely not! When you are looking in the mirror, play with your facial expressions. For example, biting a lip, expressing anger in your features, and squinting your eyes. You may feel a bit strange making facing in the mirror, but looking in the mirror and trying out different facial expressions will give you more ideas and options for your photoshoot and will up your game, especially if you are a model trying to stand out.
