Three Tips on What Not to Wear During a Photoshoot

Choosing the perfect outfit for your photoshoot can be a daunting task. What colors, type of clothing, how should you dress, should you wear patterns? Choosing outfits becomes exponentially hard, especially when you have a group photo. So, here are some tips on how to select clothing for your photoshoot.

Tip #1 Don’t Choose Clothing That Other People Wear

Just because that cute jumpsuit looks great on the girl on Instagram doesn’t necessarily mean that outfit will look good on you. You’ll need to consider your body type, height, and shape and determine which colors look good on you. You don’t want to look washed out or wear a color that doesn’t compliment your skin tone. For example, an outfit on a curvy and tall person isn’t going to look the same, or may not look good, on someone short and thin. You want to wear colors and styles that compliment your body and make you feel good.

Tip #2 You Don’t Have to Wear the Outfit Your Girlfriend Tells You to Wear

Unless your girlfriend is a wardrobe stylist, you don’t have to take her advice on what to wear on your photoshoot. While you can work together to accessorize or decide which outfit you’d like to wear, you may want to choose a few outfits you like that fit well and then ask her to choose the one she likes best. This way, you’re wearing an outfit that you love, and your friend has participated in choosing.

Tip #3 Get Outside of the Box with Your Outfit

You don’t need to wear traditional clothing such as a white shirt and blue jeans in a nature picture. Instead, get creative and find a lovely dress you love to wear outside. What’s the end goal with your photosession? If you want to stand out and be seen, shake up what you’re wearing. Maybe you choose a professional outfit with a spraypainted backdrop or wear relaxed jeans and a top with a formal background.

Think of what best suits your style and work from there! You’ll find that when you wear what you love, your photos will reflect the happiness that comes from within. It’s easy to be like everyone else, choose to be you in your photosession and wear what makes you happy and reflects your personality.

When you wear what gives you joy, you’ll have pride in looking back at your photos.
