The Importance of Having a Second Photographer on Your Wedding Day

Your wedding day is one of the most memorable days of your life! With so much to plan for, including your pictures, you want to ensure you have all your wedding bases covered. In addition, with so much riding on this experience, you’ll want to ensure you have a backup wedding photographer - whether that is someone who accompanies your main photographer or another photography service altogether for many different reasons. Read on to find out why having a second photographer for your big wedding day is a great idea.

Reasons to Have a Second Wedding Photographer

If you already have a good photographer, you’re almost guaranteed an even better experience with a second photographer. Besides doubling up on the positive vibes, a second photographer will also have different ideas and capture different angles of your wedding day. Your second wedding photographer could also have a different aspect to shoot. For instance, your main photographer may be taking more posed pictures, and your second photographer could be focused on more candid photographs of your wedding day.

And since each photographer has their own unique perspective. For example, the second photographer will take pictures in places where your primary photographer can’t physically be during your wedding and can take highlight photographs and wedding pictures that your primary photographer doesn’t have a chance to get during your ceremony and party.

Another reason you would want to have a secondary photographer is that one photographer might run out of battery or have an issue with their camera. You could be left without images of your big day without a backup! Although this isn’t common, it also isn’t rare. Since you don’t want to create a “posed session” after your wedding day, you’ll want to know that there’s someone to shoot backup in case one of the photographers can’t take pictures of you on your wedding day.

One of your photographers could also shoot the engagement dinner and bridal shots. In contrast, the other photographer could take pictures in different areas or venues, especially if your wedding is at more than one venue. This is especially important because you want to make sure you have a backup photographer in case one photographer doesn’t make it because of illness or another personal emergency. Your backup or secondary photographer can be there and modify their photography to capture the most critical moments if one of the wedding photographers can’t make it to your wedding.

Get a Better Variety of Wedding Photographs with Two Wedding Photographers

Having a second photographer creates a better variety in your final gallery. You’ll have different types of pictures to choose from, so if you don’t like one style of photography, you’re not stuck buying pictures that you aren’t excited about. There are so many benefits to having two photographers on your wedding day that only one photographer can leave you with only a handful of photographs you like or want to purchase.

Getting great pictures is all about having a photographer who understands what you’re looking for in your photography session. Call Katie Carodine Photography at 971-315-3002 to book your session today!
